St.Nicholas 3-6 v Sean McDermotts 0-15

HT 1-3 v 0-6

St.Nicholas earned their first point of the season after a tough but entertaining draw with the Sean McDermotts in Jimmy Pentony Park on Friday evening. The home team started well taking two early points from Kevin Walsh and Phillip Kirwan but, while dominating possession, couldn’t add to it on the scoreboard. Midway through the half the McDermotts had registered their first scores and took a lead of two points following two frees. A Paddy Murtagh goal and a free from Kirwan left it all square at the break.

It was the visitors who raced out of the blocks for the second half adding four unanswered points, two frees and two from play. Both teams then exchanged points and with ten left on the clock Barry Woods found the back of the net to get the Nicks back into the game. Sean McDermotts didn’t let the goal effect their play and continued adding points to bring their lead to three with five left. A goal from Adrian “the Gooch”Gates following a ricochet of the post brought St.Nicholas level. A late free by the McDermotts left them one up and it fell to Kevin Walsh to level up for the Nicks at the end.
