John Mitchells 0-10 v 0-8 St. Nicholas

Ht 0-4 v 0-4

The Mitchells and the Nicks played out a thriller on Friday evening in Páirc Sean Misteal. There was a lot at stake with both teams still in contention in Division 3b, this was shown with both throwing everything in for their respective teams. It was the home team who struck first, taking a two point lead. The nicks struck back with a Fionn Meagher free. Both teams exchanged points, Paudi Downey on target for the Nicks. A Mitchells free restored their two point cushion with five left in the half. The Nicks rallied late on with points from Caebhan Housidari and Sam Reilly to go in all square at the break.

The second half was much the same with neither team holding back. As in the first half it was the Mitchells who hit the front again, opening a two point lead. The nicks replied through Rian Farrell but midway through the half John Mitchells extended the lead again. In the final stretch, the Nicks had brought the gap back to two with points from Shahin Housidari, Hayden Quinn and a Lee Kavangh free. A late push from the visitors saw a Fionn Meagher effort hit the bar, while at the other end the Mitchells somehow missed the chance to seal victory by missing a guilt edged goal opportunity. An entertaining match ended with John Mitchells taking the three points and leaving both teams looking forward to the championship.
