Following a disappointing result on day one of division 3B, St.Nicholas registered their first win after a hard fought encounter in Pรกirc Mac Diarmada. Both teams defences were on top early but it was the home team who opened the scoring with two back to back frees. A Philip Kirwan free took the nicks to one behind midway through the half. The Sean's added another two from play. The visitors forward line were getting a bit more joy late in the half with Lee Kavanagh and another Kirwan point keeping them within one. Both teams exchanged scores at the end of the half with Aaron Flanagan's score leaving the Nicks behind by the minimum at the break.
St.Nicholas started the second half with a find solo effort from Rian Farrell to even the scores. Both teams went score for score throughout a tense second half. Another Kirwan free, a 45' from Ruairi Hanlon and points from Tadgh Martin and Con Sheehan had it 9 each in the dying minutes. Another Con Sheehan point in the final minute had the Nicks heading back to Jimmy Pentony Park with the two league points.
