Westerns 2-6 v 2-7 St.Nicholas

HT 2-3 v 0-3

In a rain soaked Reaghstown, it was the visitors who left with the points following a tense affair on Saturday evening. In a game of two halves, it was the teams playing with the aid of the wind that struggled. An early fisted goal from the westerns gave them an early lead. The Nicks had a lot of possession but their delivery into the forwards was disappointing, they only added two from play through Aaron Flanagan and Rory Hanlon. Westerns extended their lead through two frees and a goal from play. A late Phillip Kirwan free completed an underwhelming Nicks first half.

Playing into the breeze in the second half the Nicks started to reduce the deficit through Lee Kavanagh, and 1-1 from Cebhan Housidari. Fionn Meagher then found the back of the net and a Brian Carter fisted effort had the nicks one up. The home side equalised late on but from the resulting kick out, Rory Hanlon drove forward and slotted the winner.
