Naomh Malachi 1-8 v 0-7 St. Nicholas
HT 1-3 v 0-4

It was the home side who came away with the two points following a largely forgettable div 3b contest in Páirc Naomh Malachi on Saturday evening. Both teams exchanged points early, a free for the Mals and Paudi Downey for the Nicks. Naomh Malachi extended their lead with the aid of a lucky ricochet that fell at their full forwards feet in the square, who then tapped it into the net. Two more frees from the home team had them in a good position but the Nicks stayed in the half with points from Sam Reilly, Fionn Meagher and an  impressive strike from near the sideline from their captain Brian Carter.
The second half followed the first’s trend, st. Nicholas had a lot of possession but couldn’t break a resolute defence and the Mals had more opportunities but couldn’t covert. Alex Finegan, Aaron Flanagan and another Downey free were all the visitors could add to their tally.

St.Nicholas team; Shane Finegan; Shahin Housidari, Conor Faulkner, Matt Onianwa; Rian Farrell, Alex Finegan (0-1), Sam Reilly (0-1); Brian Carter (0-1), Aaron Flanagan (0-1); Con Sheehan, Phillip Kirwan, Fionn Meagher (0-1); Tadgh Martin, Paudi Downey (0-2,1f), Declan Heeney
Subs; Stephen Hodgins for Kirwan; Jack Downey for Faulkner
